STEYR Returns to the Specialist Tractor Market with New Spezial F CVT Range
Austrian agricultural machinery manufacturer STEYR is returning to the specialist tractor segment with the launch of its new Spezial F CVT range, designed for growers of fruit, hops and other high-value perennial crops. The new series combines compact dimensions, continuously variable transmission technology, precision-farming systems and enhanced operator comfort to support specialised agricultural operations.
Announced on October 7, 2026, the range marks STEYR’s return to a category it previously served with models such as the STEYR 80 series. The company is positioning the new tractors for growers who require manoeuvrability, efficient operation and advanced technology when working in orchards, vineyards and other specialised farming environments.
Three models designed for specialist growers
The Spezial F CVT range comprises three models: the 4100 Spezial F CVT, 4110 Spezial F CVT and 4120 Spezial F CVT. Their maximum power outputs range from 100 to 120 horsepower.
Specialist farms often operate in confined spaces, between crop rows and on sloping terrain. Tractor dimensions, steering response, visibility and the ability to work efficiently with mounted implements are therefore important considerations. STEYR says the new range has been developed to address these operating requirements while bringing premium features and digital technology to specialised crop production.
The tractors are powered by a 3.6-litre FPT engine. A reversible cooling fan is designed to help maintain cooling performance in dusty working conditions, while a 104-litre fuel tank supports longer working periods between refuelling stops.
CVT transmission focuses on efficiency and control
A key feature of the new range is STEYR’s S-Control continuously variable transmission (CVT). Unlike conventional transmissions that rely on fixed gear ratios, CVT technology allows smoother, stepless adjustment of speed, helping operators match tractor performance to different field and transport tasks.
According to the manufacturer, the tractors can reach a transport speed of 50 km/h at 1,780 rpm, while 40 km/h can be achieved at 1,500 rpm in transport applications. Operating at lower engine speeds during suitable transport work can help improve efficiency, although actual fuel consumption depends on load, terrain, driving conditions and the implement being used.
The hydraulic system features closed-centre load-sensing technology with a stated flow rate of 115 litres per minute. This is intended to support demanding hydraulic applications and the operation of multiple functions, including rear and side remote valves.
These capabilities may be particularly useful for specialist growers who need to operate equipment for spraying, mowing, cultivation and other crop-management activities.
Precision farming and connected technology
Precision agriculture is another major element of the Spezial F CVT offering. Available technologies include S-Guide automatic guidance, the Infomat 1200 touchscreen terminal, EasyTronic II headland management, S-Turn automated row-end turning, the A1000 receiver and connectivity with the FieldOps digital farm-management platform.
Automatic guidance can help operators follow planned routes more consistently, while headland-management functions can automate selected sequences at the ends of fields or crop rows. Connected farm-management tools can also help operators review machine and operational data.
For farms managing high-value crops, such tools may support more consistent field operations and better use of time and inputs. The benefits, however, depend on farm layout, operator training, system configuration and the availability of compatible equipment.
Operator comfort and safety features
STEYR has also emphasised the working environment inside the tractor cab. Available features include cab suspension, a suspended front axle and a premium operator seat. The manufacturer reports an in-cab noise level of 69 decibels.
Category 4 cab filtration is available to provide additional protection during spraying operations when used with the appropriate equipment and in accordance with safety requirements. The range also offers a pneumatic trailer-brake valve, LED work lighting and an optional camera system covering the left-hand side, right-hand side and rear of the tractor.
These features are intended to improve visibility, comfort and operational safety during demanding daily work, including early-morning and late-evening operations.
First public appearance planned for EIMA International 2026
STEYR announced on October 22 that the new 4120 Spezial F CVT would make its first public appearance at EIMA International 2026 in Bologna, Italy. The international agricultural machinery exhibition is scheduled for November 10–14, 2026, at BolognaFiere.
The tractor will be displayed alongside other STEYR models, including the 6440 Cervus CVT and the 6200 Impuls CVT. The company also plans to showcase FieldOps, connected-machine technology and precision-farming solutions.
The 6440 Cervus CVT represents the brand’s high-horsepower offering, with maximum power of up to 435 hp, while the 6200 Impuls CVT is aimed at mixed and arable farming operations. The exhibition will therefore provide an opportunity for visitors to examine how STEYR is addressing different farming requirements through specialised, general-purpose and high-horsepower equipment.
Supporting the changing needs of modern agriculture
The launch of the Spezial F CVT reflects the growing importance of machinery tailored to specific crops and farming systems. Fruit, hop and other perennial crop producers often need equipment that can manoeuvre within restricted spaces while operating modern implements and precision-farming systems.
By combining CVT transmission technology, integrated guidance options, hydraulic capability and operator-focused features, STEYR is seeking to offer a specialised tractor platform for these operations.
The range’s performance in practical farm conditions, its operating costs and its suitability for different crop layouts will be important factors for prospective buyers. Further details on market availability, pricing and specifications for individual configurations should be confirmed with STEYR or its authorised dealers.
As agricultural producers increasingly look for ways to improve efficiency and precision, specialist machinery is likely to remain an important part of the broader transition towards technology-enabled farming.
